How the Energy Saving Trust helped Scots last year

Posted by admin on 7th January 2015

With the weather getting colder and dark nights, we’re all sparing a thought for our energy bills. But did you know the Energy Saving Trust can help with energy saving all year round? Here, the Energy Saving Trust fills us in on some of the ways they’ve been helping people across Scotland to save energy this year …

Looking for advice? We’ve answered more than 95,000 calls to the Home Energy Scotland helpline since April

Energy Saving Trust delivers Home Energy Scotland – the only source of free, expert and impartial energy saving advice in Scotland. Since April 2014, Home Energy Scotland’s free helpline (0808 8080 2282) has received over 95,000 calls. And in the 12 months from April 2013 - March 2014, our advice helped 91,000 unique households in Scotland, helping them to save over 395,000 tonnes of CO2 (lifetime savings). What’s more, 96% of customers said they were satisfied with the advice they had received.

If you haven’t already, why not call Home Energy Scotland on 0808 8080 2282 or request a call back?

Thinking about improving your property? We helped more than 980 people visit a green home near them in October

On 3 and 4 October 2014, 40 green homes and 10 businesses opened their doors to the public as part of the third annual Green Network open days events. In total, more than 980 visitors took the opportunity to visit a property and find out what it’s really like to install and live with renewable technologies and energy efficiency improvements like solid wall insulation, solar panels and biomass boilers – making this year’s event the best yet.

The Green Homes Network helps people to visit green properties near them all year round. There are currently more than 1,000 properties across the Green networks and last year there were more than 1,600 visits to green homes and businesses across the networks, with 87% of people who visited saying they were thinking of installing or had already installed a renewable technology as a result. Interested? Why not try the Green Homes Network to find a property near you?

Looking to improve your driving? We’ve trained 2,000 drivers to be more fuel efficient

Since 1 April 2014, our free FuelGood fuel efficient driver training, funded by Transport Scotland, has helped 2,000 people to improve their driving and save fuel and carbon, with the average driver saving up to £250 each year as a result.
